Fascinating Facts About Basketball Legend Shaq’s $11M Florida Mansion

Shaquille O’Neal has sold his residence in Florida

The Windermere, Florida, megamansion of Shaquille O’Neal has sold for $11 million after more than three years on the market, multiple real estate agents, and a variety of asking prices.

The 15-time NBA All-Star initially sought $28 million for the property when he put it up for sale in 2018, according to listing records. The final sale price is substantially less than the home’s most recent asking price of $16.5 million and a staggering 60% less than the $28 million asking price.

The property was acquired for $11 million

Due to the absence of a deed in the public property documents, Mansion Global was unable to identify the purchaser of the home sold on Friday.

The 31,000-square-foot, Mediterranean-style mansion occupies nearly 4 acres of the exclusive Isleworth Golf and Country Club and is equipped with an NBA-approved basketball court, a 17-car showroom, and a recording studio.

“I was on floor duty when I received a call from an unknown number. “Hello, my name is Shaq, and I am calling you to sell my house.” I replied, ‘It’s about time you phoned me,’” said listing agent Benjamin Hillman of Premier Sotheby’s International Realty in a statement.

“Over the past four years, four other agents attempted to sell this extraordinary estate without success. “I was fifth in luck,” he said.

The agent took over the position in March with a plan to focus less on the house’s famous 7-foot athlete owner and more on the house itself, he told Mansion Global at the time. He also planned to make cosmetic adjustments to the home.

In addition to the 6,000-square-foot basketball court, the lakefront residence features an abundance of high-end amenities.

According to the brokerage, there is a two-story great room with glass walls, a soundproof home theatre, a ‘gentleman’s room’ with game tables, a wet bar and a wine fridge, an aquarium-style room with a saltwater triangular fish tank, and a temperature-controlled cedar-planked humidor and wine storage.

Outside, a 95-foot-long, 15-foot-deep swimming pool is accompanied by a summer kitchen, a covered boat pier with an electric boat lift, and a tiki-style cabana.

Mr. O’Neal, 49, has possessed the property since 1993, when he purchased it for $3.95 million, according to PropertyShark records. He was unavailable for comment.
