Exclusive: Draven, Chester Bennington’s Son, Shares Insight with PEOPLE on Growing Up with the Late Linkin Park Singer
As a child, Draven Bennington recalls having enjoyable times and laughing with his father.
During an interview with PEOPLE regarding his involvement in the new MTV and Paramount+ series Family Legacy, the 21-year-old son of deceased Linkin Park singer Chester Bennington, who committed suiciԀe in 2017, reminisces about his father.
Draven, who was born in April 2002, recollects his childhood touring with the rock band and a voyage to Australia with PEOPLE.
“I am uncertain as to whether or not I accompanied them for the first time, but it is the first time I can recall. There, we went with a number of my siblings; he had a few performances, but we also did family-oriented activities. “We visited the beach, observed kangaroos at the zoo, and did some other similar excursions,” he explains. “It was a great vacation, and I remember we were standing out in one of the venues.”
“I believe my younger sibling was doing something akin to napping.” It was only the father who was performing sound checks on stage. “And the only ones inside were the technicians who were setting up the equipment,” he further states.
“I had moved to the location where the crowd was gathered.”
As there was no one present, he tossed the drumsticks in my direction, and I was left to collect them on my own. It was enjoyable to accomplish something for the first time; it was something I had always desired to do.
When Chester was not on tour with the band, he devoted a substantial amount of time to spending with his children.
“One of the most significant activities that we engaged in collectively was rock climbing.” And it would typically be Tyler, my younger brother, and I. That was our thing. Occasionally, our group would embark on rock climbing excursions at Hangar 18. “We simply cherished it as one of our favorites.”
