Manchester United is considering recruiting Everton midfielder Amadou Onana, who is valued at £60 million by the Toffees.
The Belgium international signed for the Merseyside club last summer for a fee of £33.5 million and was touted to be a top player of the future.
Onana has so far made 36 appearances for Everton and is one of the few shining stars in the relegation-threatened 2022/23 campaign.
It’s no secret that Erik ten Hag is looking to add another midfielder to his squad before the transfer window closes.
Fred has been sold to Fenerbahce, Donny van de Beek is expected to be sold to Real Sociedad and Scott McTominay is still being linked with a move away from Man Utd.
Guardian journalist Jacob Steinberg has claimed that the Red Devils are offering £45m for McTominay, after rejecting a £30m offer from West Ham.
Sofyan Amrabat, has been considered Man Utd’s top midfield target for some time. However, the risk of injury in Mu is increasing, Amrabat alone is not enough
As a result, Ten Hag is considering other options and may now pursue the purchase of Onana.
Everton wants 60 million pounds for Onana
According to transfer journalist Alan Myers, who is considered very reliable about Everton transfer news, Man Utd is especially interested in Onana.
On Twitter, he wrote: “Man Utd is interested in signing Amadou Onana.
“No offers have been made at this time. Everton will ask around £60m for the Belgian midfielder.”
Ideally, Everton would like to keep Onana but they have very little transfer money at the moment and need a major squad rebuild.
Sean Dyche has had four signings this summer, the latest of which is Leeds winger Jack Harrison (on loan). However, he still wants to bring in an experienced midfielder.
With that in mind, Everton could accept Onana’s departure if Man Utd offers £60 million for him.
A versatile player, he can play as a defensive, central or attacking midfielder. At 6ft4, he was an imposing figure on the field, surprisingly agile and fond of tackling.
As mentioned, Onana is expected to become a top player as he gains more experience, so it will be interesting to see whether Man Utd make an opening bid for the Belgian in the coming weeks. Are not. the next day or not.
