Rui Hachimura bought a beautiful farmhouse-style home in Encino after signing a three-year, $51 million deal with the Lakers.
Record show the all-new home sold for $7.2 million to the history-making forward, the first Japanese-born player selected in the first round of the NBA Draft with the No. 9 overall choice by the Washington Wizards in 2019.
The two-story mansion, completed this year, has six bedrooms and seven baths in roughly 7,350 square feet of brushed natural stone, carbon cold-rolled steel, white wood, Douglas fir, Ceppo di Gré marble, gunmetal finishes, and reeded glass. Film theaters and gyms are available, and glass doors blend indoors and outside.
Hachimura’s new home is at the end of a cul-de-sac in a walled and gated parcel of a third of an acre. A road to the side of the two-tone gray and charcoal structure leads to an attached three-car garage with sleek black doors. The front door enters into an entry corridor that leads to an office with built-in shelving and a living area that opens to a fire-pit-equipped patio.
A wet bar-equipped dining room, big family room with a floor-to-ceiling fireplace, and two outdoor spaces for resting and entertaining are all on the main level. The adjacent gourmet kitchen has two islands, high-end appliances, and a butler’s pantry.
A floating glass staircase leads upstairs to a fireside master retreat with a balcony, walk-in closet, and spa-inspired bath with dual vanities, a soaking tub, and an oversized double shower. The private backyard has olive and Italian cypress trees, a pool and spa, a sundeck, kitchen and barbecue, and fireside lounge area. A completely approved auxiliary dwelling unit has a kitchenette and living area.
The Lakers acquired the 25-year-old Toyama native in early 2023. After being a restricted free agent, the forward now makes $17 million annually. Terrace House is another popular Tokyo reality show where he appeared.
