Mason Mount is a deal that has not been as effective for Manchester United as expected.
The 24-year-old left Stamford Bridge to land at Old Trafford in a transfer worth £55 million with £5 million in add-ons in the summer of 2023.
Mount lost himself when going through 18 difficult months, no longer a mainstay at Chelsea. He also lost his place in the England squad when he was often injured.
Mount hopes his career will get back on track when he joins Man United. The Red Devils even gave Mount the iconic number 7 shirt.
However, the whole of 2023 did not go as Mount wanted.
Mount ended 2023 without scoring or providing a single assist in the Premier League. The last time the midfielder scored was since a 2-0 win over Bournemouth in December 2022.
Meanwhile, Mount’s last assist in the country’s number one tournament was in Chelsea’s 3-0 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers in October 2022.
When his form improved a bit and he played well in 50 minutes in the 1-0 win over Luton Town on November 11, Mount had to make friends with the hospital bed again.
The England international has been injured since then. No one knows what type of injury Mount is facing. However, from the beginning of the season until now, he has missed 12 Man Utd matches.
In total, Mount only played 12 matches with a playing time of 627 minutes. It’s understandable that the value of this player has dropped sharply at this time. According to the CIES football data tracking and research center, Mount’s value is currently only £25 million, a decrease of £30 million compared to his real value.
That means the English midfielder’s value decreased by more than 50% in just over 190 days. Obviously, Mount’s position is falling very low.
