Transforming the Gunners into the Premier League’s set-piece monsters, Mikel Arteta’s solution has been to staff his squad with enormous brutes possessing the requisite intelligence, agility, and talent.

Following the triumph over Palace, Arteta stated, “We strive to dominate each and every phase of play.” Therefore, in order for us to be the greatest team in the world, you must excel in every aspect.

“With the ability to score in a variety of ways, particularly when attacking low blocks, everything must be executed impeccably in order to score in this particular manner.”

As of the beginning of this season, set-piece goals have constituted 31% of their overall league strikes (42), which is nearly double the proportion from the previous year (17%).

 

Since his arrival from Manchester City in July 2021, Arsenal set-piece specialist Nicolas Jover has significantly transformed the club’s set-piece approach. For which he deserves the praise that is being extended.
