Scoring after 13 months, Arsenal legend breaks the silence

Vivianne Miedema spoke about her Arsenal teammates and the support of Gunners fans when scoring her first goal in 13 months.

Miedema scored her first goal since returning from an anterior cruciate ligament injury in the match against Liverpool last weekend. She opened the scoring in a 2-0 win, marking her first goal in 13 months.

Speaking to reporters after the match, Miedema said: “This is always a match where we need to be patient because we won’t have many chances. Someone just said it’s been more than 400 days since the WSL goal my last. The way the girls celebrated with me said it all, it’s been a long time, and I worked so hard for it.”

.

“When I’m on the field I don’t really see what’s around me but I think we all know we have the best fans, we appreciate it so much. It gives us I energy.”

This was only Miedema’s second game of the season due to injury. She is the top scorer in both Arsenal and the Dutch team’s history.
