Gareth Bale is on his way to pursuing a professional golf career after retiring from top football with Real Madrid

Gareth Bale will compete in the Pebble Beach Pro-Am Golf event in February, just weeks after the former Real Madrid and Wales star announced his retirement from football.

Bale hung up his shoes in early January and will compete with many other celebrities at the tournament in California (USA) along with some of the world’s top golfers. The 33-year-old wrote on his Instagram account: “Happy to announce that I will be competing in the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am early next month!”.

The former Tottenham striker won 5 Champions League titles and 3 La Liga titles with Real Madrid but still retains the passion for golf that made fans angry when he was playing for the Spanish Royal team. Bale ended his club career with Los Angeles FC (USA). He played for Wales at last year’s World Cup in Qatar before deciding to retire.

Now, the famous former Wales striker will have time to pursue his other sporting passion. According to AFP, there will be 156 amateur golfers attending the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am taking place from February 2 to 5, including a number of professional athletes such as US Open champion Matt Fitzpatrick and world No. 5 golfer Patrick. Cantlay.
