Arsenal player ratings: Gabriel gobbles up Haaland, Rice and White Lead Arsenal Defense to Hold Off Man City Champions

Arsenal at last ended their nirvanic run at Etihad Stadium by frustrating Manchester City with a tenacious performance that resulted in a 0-0 stalemate. As a consequence, Mikel Arteta’s squad failed to reclaim the lead in the Premier League subsequent to Liverpool’s earlier-afternoon triumph over Brighton. Nevertheless, the Arsenal manager will be ecstatic with his squad’s performance at a venue from which they had failed to secure a point since 2016.

Gabriel Magalhaes was outstanding as the visitors shut out City, which had not scored a goal at home in the league since October 2021.

Raya David (6/10):

Early on, he appeared a little uneasy and struggled to maintain his balance while removing the ball, resulting in several errors. Positioned appropriately to block Ake’s close-range header.

White, Ben (8/10):

Rare as it was that he advanced down the right flank, causing issues for the city. His effective play opened the door for two opportunities for Jesus in the first half. Excellent display.

Saliba, William (8/10):

Another player who initially appeared a little anxiоus by deviating slightly with the ball when he ought to have advanced it. After the intermission, he vastly improved to stop Haaland and Gabriel.

(8/10) Gabriel Magalhaes:

Outstanding against Haaland. Withstood the physical cоnflict exceptionally well. Strongly impressive.

Kiwior Jakub (5/10):

When Bernardo charged at him, he encountered difficulties, and it appeared that City had his number on the line. An arduous afternoon for the substitute left-back.

Jorginho (6 out of 10):

Orderly and organized. Provided support for the rear four. While performing admirably, he was unable to utilize the ball to the extent that Arsenal and he had desired.

Rice, Declan (7/10):

Excellent combat with Rodri in the midfield. Exhibited precisely why Guardiola desired to acquire him for City.

Odegaard, Martin (6/10):

At ease when under duress, he attempted to exert pressure when he could. City was never able to get the ball into hazardous areas to cause significant damage.

Saka Bukayo (4/10):

Simply unable to engage in the activity. Never appeared to be a concern. Attempting to deliver a perilous cross in the second half, he appeared to be far from 100 percent fit.

Havertz, Kai (6/10):

Capably led the line. Although he didn’t see much of the ball, his physicality caused issues when it was played up to him.

Gabriel Jesus (6/10):

A combination of exhilarating and tiring. Although undoubtedly far from his peak, he remained consistently engaged and present in the game. Two attempts were missed in the initial half.

Partey, Thomas (5/10):

Succeeded Jorginho. Slightly lethargic in appearance at times. It is not yet sharp-looking.

(5/10) Takehiro Tomiyasu:

Acquired in the second half to maintain Doku’s silence following his introduction. He performed admirably, but his passing was occasionally subpar.

Trossard, Leandro (5/10):

Done an exquisite display of expertise in order to lose Doku. Late on, he had one opportunity on the cоunterattack, but his shot was saved.

(N/A) Gabriel Martinelli:

Never truly engaged in the game.

Arteta Mikel (6/10):

He will be immensely pleased with the tenacity exhibited by his side. However, his rιsk-taking after Saka’s ιnjury was unsuccessful, and he will be hoping that he has not further aggravated the situation.
