It seemed like Mikel Arteta was about to topple a Premier League behemoth.
Despite leading Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City to a thrilling final game, Arsenal were ultimately defeated by a narrow margin of two points in the title fight. However, their improvement under Arteta is undeniable.
In just over four and a half years as manager, Arteta has transformed Arsenal from a laughingstock into a serious contender. They were able to qualify for next year’s Champions League, where they advanced to the quarterfinals; next year, they intend to return even better after adding a few players.
This season, the key players for Arsenal performed as follows:
David Raya – 8
The Spaniard has been outstanding since being substituted for Aaron Ramsdale, who was a fan favorite, but the move was controversial. Playing out of the back, he has matured into the position and earned the Premier League Golden Glove.
Ben White – 8
The right defender had a fantastic, outstanding season, with exceptional defensive play and a great connection with Bukayo Saka on the overlap. Without a doubt, the Premier League’s top right back right now.
William Saliba – 9
He is one of just two players in Premier League history to have played every minute, the other being Wolves’ Max Kilman. I hardly messed up in any of them. Can you picture the season before his injury?
Gabriel – 8
His future seemed cloudy last summer due to interest from Saudi Arabia, but he returned to the team in fantastic form. The foundation of Arsenal’s defense is his relationship with Saliba.
Jakub Kiwior – 7
Had a strong stretch after the new year and proved himself to be an asset to the team by filling in at left back.
Takehiro Tomiyasu – 7
You worry that Jurrien Timber’s return to form next season would mean he doesn’t see as much playing time… but excelled at the position of left back.
Oleksandr Zinchenko – 7
Despite his questionable defensive play, he is great with the ball and brings it to the table. His future will be decided this summer.
Declan Rice – 9
What an incredible first year at Arsenal. You can’t miss this season’s steal at £105 million. No. 8 and an excellent news anchorman. Superb team player and excellent manager.
Jorginho – 7
Without a doubt, deserving of praise. Managed his body well while playing a crucial supporting role, providing valuable experience and high-quality work. Justifies his extension by a significant margin.
Martin Odegaard – 9.5
My darling. Superb athlete. Head honcho, he commanded attention and provided electrifying performances. The season was launched by this world-class talent. World class.
Thomas Partey – 6
Minor character towards the conclusion. So many wounds. The question of whether to twist or stick needs to be decided. For a guy who had the option to leave last summer, that’s respectable.
Leandro Trossard – 8
What a remarkable season—he was lethal off the bench on several occasions. Made significant contributions to goals and assists. Despite not having Martinelli’s speed, he is a fantastic asset to Arsenal thanks to his versatility as an option in the center and out wide.
Gabriel Martinelli – 7
Quickening speed. However, he was out for significant portions of the season due to injuries and subsequent decline in performance. An in shape Martinelli can reach turbo speeds on an electric bike. He must return for the upcoming season.
Bukayo Saka – 8
Soon to be scored and assisted. Consistent and dependable, however even he appeared exhausted at times. Would benefit from taking a break, but that would be a huge mistake. Shows off his crossing skills brilliantly.
Gabriel Jesus – 7
A role was played by injuries. Impressive as ever, and he looks much better in the Champions League. Would a new central forward improve Arsenal’s roster? He appears to have some finishing issues and misses a lot of games.
Kai Havertz – 8
It is very astounding. After a sluggish start and some adjustment time, he was absolutely brilliant in the second half of the season. Great character, excellent runs, and a brilliant technical player. So impressive that the Gunners may have rethought their summer transfer strategy and are now more inclined to get a younger No. 9.
