He was absent from their pre-season friendly against Union Berlin on Friday due to speculation he is moving to the Emirates.
Merino contributed to Spain’s Euro 2024 victory, scoring the winning goal against Germany in the quarter-finals.
Arsenal is in talks to sign the midfielder, which Mikel Arteta has expressed interest in for some time.
Once an offer is approved, it is expected that personal conditions with Merino will be easily agreed upon.
Real Sociedad has offered Merino a new contract, as his current one expires next year.
However, Merino’s representatives are said to have notified the club that he intends to sign with the Gunners.
Arsenal may need to sell players before making a trade, including Eddie Nketiah, who is expected to go.
Marseille attempted to sign the striker but did not match Arsenal’s asking price of £27 million.
Bournemouth are considering Nketiah as a potential replacement for Dominic Solanke.
Arsenal released Emile Smith Rowe this summer to facilitate a move for Riccardo Califiori.
