Villa fell to a 2-0 defeat by Arsenal but one star stood out, Redknapp has claimed

Jamie Redknapp picked out an Aston Villa standout for admiration, likening the midfielder to “Jonah Lomu in his prime.”

On match day two of the new season, Villa suffered their first Premier League loss as they were defeated 2-0 by Arsenal, despite dominating the game for the majority of it.

Although Villa made an impression, Ollie Watkins wasted two fantastic opportunities for the home team, but Leandro Trossard and Thomas Partey scored to give Arsenal a 2-0 victory.

Morgan Rodgers, who was starting his 13th game for the team after joining in February from Middlesbrough, was one of those who stood out. The 22-year-old was the driving force behind everything his team accomplished during the match.

Redknapp, who was all over Villa’s man when he spoke on Sky Sports, was the one who identified him as one of the better players.

During the encounter on Saturday, one of Villa’s most impressive players was Morgan Rogers (right).

Redknapp started, “There’s a lot of things you love about him.” “I was pleased with his performances when he joined the Villa team last year.”

“You see his stature, his level of power, speed, and skill.” It is really hard to stop. Partey couldn’t live with him; he caused him nightmares. Rice spins around nearly three times in a split second.

“He was simply amazing—unplayable.” He is twenty-two. There were times when seeing him pick up the ball and run was reminiscent of watching Jonah Lomu at his best.

Following the game, Rogers declined to comment on any future aspirations to play internationally. He told Sky Sports that despite interim manager Lee Carsley being in the audience, he hadn’t given senior England recognition any attention, all grins.

The midfielder may be called up for the upcoming squad, which will be announced next week, despite having received caps for England at several young levels, including two at the Under-21 level under Carsley.

Meanwhile, in a speech shown on Sky, Lee Hendrie pushed Rogers to improve his play even further.

Unai Emery's side have three points from their first two games having beaten West Ham last week

After defeating West Ham United last week, Unai Emery’s team has three points from their opening two matches.

“When he gets the ball, he has a really exciting balance and glide that I really like,” Hendrie remarked.

“Unai Emery stated that he wants to get him strong and fit because he appears strong and has caused issues for elite players there.”

I adore that he can exert so much energy from midfield. But let me say this: if he can improve his game with goals. Have they scored those goals and provided those assists? We see a lot of players getting into those nice spots.
