Asserting that Jhon Duran is “the right player” to propel the team forward, Patrick Vieira has urged Arsenal to consider a trade approach for the striker.
Throughout the summer, Arsenal reportedly showed interest in a number of well-known forwards, such as Dusan Vlahovic, Viktor Gyokeres, and Alexander Isak. However, Mikel Arteta has chosen to stick with Kai Havertz in the No. 9 position.
Even though Havertz has had a great start to the new campaign, the north London powerhouses are still being linked to prominent attacking players throughout Europe; the most recent name to surface as a priority target is 20-year-old Duran of Aston Villa.
According to rumors earlier this month from Duran’s home country of Colombia, Arsenal had contacted Villa over the player’s possible availability prior to the January transfer window.
Ollie Watkins has essentially taken Duran’s place at Villa Park, but the teenage player, who has eight goals in 14 appearances this season, is demanding that Arsenal’s Premier League rivals pay at least £75 million for him.
Despite Duran’s high price tag, legendary former Arsenal captain Vieira is not deterred and thinks the “intelligent” Colombian international would be a great match for the Gunners.
Vieira told bettingexpert.com, “I thought he played exceptionally well against Bayern Munich.”
“He is the ideal player for Arsenal because he is quick, selfless, strong in the air, technically proficient, and has a clever gait.”

Vieira believes Arteta would benefit from a true No. 9 like Erling Haaland, and Arsenal has also been speculatively linked to Sporting forward Viktor Gyokeres in recent months.
The Frenchman continued, “The question is whether Arsenal can reach their goals with a genuine goalscorer or a false No. 9.”
Havertz has shown promise since the beginning of the season and could take that position.
“But as Manchester City has demonstrated, winning games is made easier with a pure striker like Haaland.”

Vieira claims that since assuming leadership in December 2019, Arteta has contributed to reviving “energy” in “all areas of the club.”
“I’m thrilled that Mikel can work with confidence and has the chance to commit to a long-term relationship,” Vieira added.
What’s fascinating is that he has revitalized every part of the club.
One crucial element is that the players seem to be giving their all for their coach and club.
“Arsenal’s play has a certain culture that needs to be respected, and Mikel seems capable of bringing it back.”
