Arsenal are looking to buy one of Newcastle United’s greatest players to improve their assault.
The Arsenal have had a dismal start to their Premier League campaign. They have only 19 points from 11 games.
The club is already nine points behind leaders Liverpool and has a significant task to remain in the title race following the international break.
Arsenal’s failure to recruit a marquee striker last summer proved costly, and they will certainly hunt for a replacement next year.
According to journalist Con Harrison, the Gunners have prioritized Alexander Isak as their top striker target throughout his contract negotiations.
Newcastle are struggling to reach new terms with the Swede, who is apprehensive about missing out on a Champions League position.
Arsenal has tracked Isak’s progress since his time in Spain. His adaption to the Premier League has earned him boss Mikel Arteta’s number one attacking target.
Isak might cost over £100 million next summer.
The 25-year-old has experienced short-term injury issues throughout his time at Newcastle, but he has shown to be an excellent acquisition from Real Sociedad.
Isak scored 25 goals in 40 games last season, 21 of which came in the Premier League.
The Swede has five goals in 11 games this season. He’s scored in his last four appearances.
The former Sociedad striker possesses all of the characteristics necessary for Arteta’s playing style at Arsenal. He has the ability to drop into deep attacking positions to link up play.
Isak has impressed with his direct dribbling. He has also improved his aerial presence and hold-up play in the box. He is just in the peak of his career and could get better.
As things stand, the Magpies have failed to convince Isak over a renewal, but the striker will still have two more years left on his contract when the season ends.
Taking this into regard, Newcastle could easily hold out for over £100 million if Isak has another good season and ends up with 25 to 30 goals to his name.
This should not derail the Gunners pursuit as Arteta should be backed with a huge transfer kitty next summer. A mid-season transfer is unlikely on the cards.
Isak has the potential to be world-class, as per Henrik Larsson. He could make the next step in his career with the Gunners, who are yearning for a marquee striker.
