Arsenal make an approach to sign the ‘unhappy’ Real Madrid star

Arsenal has approached Real Madrid midfielder Arda Guler, according to Spanish publications.

Last year, the 19-year-old joined Madrid for an initial €20 million (£17 million) deal from Fenerbahce, and he appeared in 12 La Liga games in his first season.

Arda impressed for Turkey at Euro 2024 in the summer, but has struggled to establish a regular role at Madrid this season, starting only three of their 17 games in all competitions.

According to Sport, the midfielder is dissatisfied with his current status at Madrid and seeks more playing time for the Spanish champions.

According to the source, Arsenal has contacted Arda’s entourage to learn more about his status in Madrid and evaluate his interest in a move to the Premier League.

Arsenal are thought to see Arda as a similar scenario to Martin Odegaard, who struggled for playing time before joining the Gunners on loan in January 2021.

Eight months later, Mikel Arteta’s side made Odegaard’s deal permanent for an original £30 million cost.

Before the international break, Ancelotti was queried about the lack of minutes given to Arda and Endrick, the 18-year-old Brazilian who joined Madrid in the summer after a £51 million deal with Palmeiras was signed in December 2022.

Ancelotti stated, “Endrick is ready to play, doing very well, and showing a lot of quality in training.”

I say the same thing about Guler. These are young folks who are pushing. However, the common goal is to turn things around as rapidly as possible. Can you do this with them? Yes. However, the primary goal is to turn things around. Not to allocate minutes to one player over another.’
