Arsenal are reportedly looking to sign Borussia Dortmund forward Jamie Gittens, according to German football expert Florian Plettenberg.

Currently, Mikel Arteta has Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard as his left-sided attacking options. While Martinelli began the season as the first choice, his performance has been slower than expected. Recently, Arteta has favored Trossard on the left flank, who has scored in the last two games but struggled for goals in the previous nine matches across all competitions.

This situation highlights the need for Arsenal to strengthen this position if they aim to compete for the Premier League title. Plettenberg notes that Arsenal is interested in Gittens and may make a formal approach for him.

The 20-year-old forward has a contract until 2028 and is not currently looking to leave Dortmund, although he aspires to play in the Premier League in the future. If a club like Arsenal persuades him to move, Dortmund is expected to demand around £83 million.

In addition to Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea, and Tottenham Hotspur are also reportedly interested in Gittens, meaning Arsenal will face tough competition.

Gittens has made a strong start to the season, contributing to seven goals in eight Bundesliga starts and even scoring against Bayern Munich last weekend. He has also shone in the Champions League, netting four goals in as many starts, including a goal against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabéu, despite a 5-2 loss.

With his talent and ability to perform in crucial matches, Gittens has the potential to become a top-class forward. It remains to be seen if Arsenal will formalize their interest in signing him to bolster their attacking lineup.
